Stewart, a prolific potter in the San Diego area of California from the early 50s through the mid-70s, originally sold his art (out of his old van) directly to store merchants, traveling extensively up and down the coast. He eventually gained enough prominence to open his own studio (Lion's Valley Pottery) and sold his creations directly to his customers for many years. His iconic pieces are very popular today and are highly sought after and highly collectible.

This beautifully glazed small Ceramic Planter, with those adorably perky Cat Ears, curious Cat eyes and wonderfully playful Cat Whiskers, is in very good condition, with no chips.
